BACKGROUND + PERSONALITY (ORIGINAL CHARACTERS ONLY): Using this because I can't find a wiki article on Alex, since the movie is pretty obscure. [ooc: Next to nothing is known about Alex in canon, as he is a periphery character, serving mostly as a love interest for the main character Everything about his background (including his age), with the exception of anything specific to Adult World where he works, or the fact that he draws and paints,is either estimated from what little context there is in the movie surrounding his character or is fabricated to fit the general context that seems to surround him.]

As a twenty-two year old living in the Finger Lake region of New York State, not knowing for sure what one wants to do with their life leaves few career options. Without a college degree nor the inclination to obtain one, Alex has decided upon working in a porn shop to pass his time. The pay is pretty good as the manager, he has fun at work, and the owners of the shop, Mary Anne and Stan, are like family to Alex.

Alex came from a family who staunchly believed in the American Dream. To get there, they expected Alex to keep good grades, graduate high school, go to college, and get a good job. Alex, on the other hand, disagreed. Life was meant for living, not slaving away with his nose in a book for half of it. While he's not unintelligent, Alex is a hell of a lot more street smart than book smart. He'd always been more interested in the finer arts, but his parents insisted that he choose something more practical. Taking a stand against them and deciding he was going to do his own thing and take a year off college, his parents kicked him out and cut him off.

That was when Alex met Mary Anne and Stan. Following the Help Wanted sign, he wandered into Adult World, a porn shop run by a playful elderly couple with a fondness for public displays of affection. The laid back atmosphere and the fact that the very idea of him working in a place like this would enrage his parents were both deciding factors and Alex asked to fill out an application. Instead, he was hired on the spot. Six months later, Alex was promoted to manager. He was eighteen years old.

Four years later, Alex is still working at Adult World, living modestly in a shitty apartment in the seedy part of downtown Dundee, NY.

Alex is a free-spirit. He's very open-minded, laid back, and the only thing that really bothers him is when people disappoint him by giving up on their dreams or thinking themselves better than someone else. Alex will be the first to offer encouragement to a person, but he'll also be the first to tell you if you're being an asshole. In other words, Alex is also very blunt and he calls it like he sees it.

He likes to have fun and goof off, especially at work. Being the manager of a sex shop is how he makes his living and he figures if he can't joke about that, then the only alternative is to take himself too seriously and, really, when you work in Adult World...how can you?

Alex is warm-hearted and outgoing. He loves making friends, getting stoned or drunk or partying...really, whatever they want to do, because Alex likes to go with the flow. It isn't that he's a pushover, it's just that he can find fun in just about any situation, so it's easier for him to roll with whatever other people enjoy than it is to try to pick one thing he would prefer to be doing.

Loyal, probably almost to a fault, and understanding, Alex will give a person second, third, and fourth chances, even if they don't deserve them. He doesn't hold a grudge very often, nor stay angry for terribly long; what's the point in that? He's a good friend, a great listener, and is the best guy to go to when you need a pep talk.

WISH: To have enough money to work a little less and devote more time to his art.

FIT: Alex is a sociable guy, if a little awkward and dorky. He fully embraces his dorkiness and owns up to it, though. He's likely to make friends with people fairly easily, especially the types of people that have a harder time connecting with others; in canon, he's pretty easy-going and extroverted.

CONSENT: Canonically, he's never shown any indication of being the kind of person who wouldn't seek out consent before acting, so I can't imagine that changing in Cadelle.

Alex's skill set largely revolves around his personality. He's very good with people and he can adapt to situations, multi-task, and stay productive while still having fun and remaining calm, cool, and collected. He has management skills, is a practical encyclopedia of knowledge about all things adult: sex toys, fetish categories, etc. If it has to do with the world of pornography, Alex is more than likely knowledgeable, seeing as how that's his job. He is also good at making executive decisions and is able to separate work and pleasure when it comes down to it. You could be his best friend or the girl he likes, but if you dick around too much at work and it becomes in any way detrimental to the business, you're done.

In an unrelated field, Alex is an amazing painter and sketch artist, but he's never shown his stuff to anyone, because some things are just for him. He doesn't feel the need to show any of it off and has a tendency to be embarrassed if someone does catch a glimpse of his work, usually brushing off any compliments modestly with an awkward, "I don't even know what I'm doing with that; it's not finished" or "don't look at that, that's so embarrassing..."
